(10/17/12) - Mid-Michigan school officials are reporting the passing of a local superintendent.
John E. Schantz II, an Owosso native, died on Oct. 13 at the age of 53.
Below is an excerpt from his obituary:
He was a 1977 graduate from St. Charles High School and he received his bachelor and master's degrees from Saginaw Valley State University.
John was the Superintendent of Bentley Community Schools in Burton, MI since 2005. He was also employed by St. Charles Community Schools as a teacher of Mathematics, curriculum director, director of technology, and principal of the high school where he touched many lives.
John also worked for Godwins in Saginaw in the service department and he was the owner of Renu CRT.
The funeral for Schantz will take place at 11 a.m. on Oct. 20 at the Humpula Funeral Home in St. Charles.
