(10/19/12) - What's happening on some Michigan roads is both scary and unbelievable.
Law enforcement officers say someone is shooting randomly at people driving their cars.
So far, there have been at least 15 cases spanning three counties - beginning west in Ingham, through Livingston, and east into Oakland.
One person whose car was hit is from Genesee County. We talked to her family. They say she is still shaken up and scared.
While many of the cases involve people driving cars or in cars, we know at least one person was shot at while taking out the trash.
But, the number of victims could go up.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard talked to the media Friday evening. He said they are checking into a sixteenth case.
The shooting spree started around 7 on Tuesday. The last case was reported at 6:45 on Thursday.
Witness told investigators they saw a dark-colored mustang or cavalier during the time of the shooting.
"We are taking this extremely serious for a lot of reasons. The number of incidents and also the potential for serious injury, if not death. Fortunately no person has been hit, but there has been some very close calls, literally within inches of the vehicle and one person taking out his garbage said he thought he heard a bullet going past his head," Bouchard said.
No one has been injured so far. The main concern is that someone will get killed.
A number of law enforcement agencies are working together to map a pattern for these shootings, but they need the public's help.
