Police stand off in Montrose Township

GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) -

(10/20/12) - The man who barricaded himself inside a Genesee County home is now in police custody this weekend.

It all happened at a home inside Riverside Mobile Home park in Montrose township.

The man surrendered without incident sometime before 7 p.m. Saturday.
   
Police tell us he is the father of a 3-month-old baby who died on Monday.
    
At this time, it is not known how the baby died. We do know an investigation has been underway with the Department of Human Services.
    
A 911 call was placed Saturday afternoon. Police say When they arrived, the man may have been trying to harm himself.
   
The Sheriffs department and State Police, including their SWAT team, assisted Montrose Township Police.
    
The whole incident left neighbors on high-alert.

Police say the man was the only one inside the home.
    
Authorities say this incident remains under investigation.
