(10/23/12) - Tuesday, at several locations throughout Genesee County, the concerns of the homeless were heard.
The Annual Homeless Awareness Lunch and Learn event connects homeless citizens with service providers who can help them.
The Northend Soup Kitchen served as a super site for the event.
Those in attendance were given a free meal, free flu shots and health screenings.
More importantly, they were given the opportunity to share with service providers the issues they face as homeless citizens.
"We just have all kinds of services just so people can come in and talk with us and interact with us and we can find out what they need and they can find out what services are available," said Jameca Patrick-Singleton, Mgr., Supportive Housing Programs.
This is the thirteenth year for Homeless Awareness Lunch and Learn. It's sponsored by several local agencies.
