(10/23/12) - Is the Potter Street Station haunted? Decide for yourself when 'A Haunting on Potter Street' debuts next week.
Lockers opening by themselves, strange voices, and even a glimpse of a woman in white. "As I rounded the corner, there was no one there," said Keith Wizner, president of the Saginaw Depot Preservation Corporation.
Director and producer Steve Shippy, best known as hip hop artist 'Prozak', says it's all unexplained, potentially paranormal activity. "I don't believe it's ever been deserted, let's put it that way."
The former train depot on Potter Street has a storied past. It was the longtime gateway to the city, and a hub of activity during the two World Wars. Some people left the brick walls, and never returned alive. "A lot of bodies were brought back to the station from World War I and World War II," Shippy said.
One of the former owners actually ran a casket business out of the depot. That may explain some of what Shippy's cameras captured during his paranormal investigation.
And while the Shippy hopes his evidence will turn non-believer into believer, there's another reason he decided to ghost hunt here.
"First and foremost we want people to see the things we see when we're here. We want them to have a love for this building," Wizner said.
Damaged by fire, bricks crumbling, and lined by a barbed wire fence, Wizner is part of a group trying to save Potter Street Station.
Some of the money made at the box office will go right back into bringing the depot back to life. "And what you see behind me with these two door was six months worth of work ,of very hard labor. And that kind of info of revenue would mean a lot for a building like this," Wizner said.
Everyone who attends the premiere at the Temple Theatre Nov. 2-4, will get a copy of the DVD.
