MUNDY TOWNSHIP (WJRT) -

(10/26/12) - Two special-needs children are recovering after their school bus rolled in Genesee County Friday morning.

The accident happened around 6:30 on Baldwin Road near Fenton Road, in Mundy Township.

The Genesee Intermediate School District bus was traveling west bound when two deer ran in front of it.

The driver swerved, rolling the bus into the ditch.

Fire crews had to rescue the trapped driver.

The two children, an assistant, and the driver each received minor injuries and were treated at local hospitals.

"The students that we transport are in our center-based special needs programs, so they are always fragile and we are always concerned when something like this happens," said Jerry Johnson, GISD spokesman.

Baldwin Road was closed until the bus was pulled from the ditch at about 8 a.m. Friday.
