Two more shootings along I-96

Posted: Updated:

(10/27/12) - Police have linked the shooting of a motorist driving along Interstate 96 on Saturday to a string of shootings in the state.

Two cars were shot around noon, just west of the Fowlerville road exit on Interstate 96.

A man in one of those cars was shot in the hip. Sheriff's officials say he is 46-years-old and from Delton.

The man was taken to the hospital and at last check is in fair condition.

Police shut down a stretch of the interstate to investigate.

Saturday's shootings were the first cases in nine days. The spree started on Oct. 16.

The shootings have spanned four counties including Shiawassee, Ingham, Livingston and Oakland. So far 24 cars have been hit.

Multiple police agencies are searching for the shooter, who they say appears to be a man in his 30s.

Police said Friday that tests have determined that the same firearm was used in the string of shootings up to that point.
