(11/06/12) - People on the east coast are still reeling from the effects of Superstorm Sandy, but some local efforts are being made to comfort the storm victims in Rockaway.
From noon-9 p.m. Wednesday, you can drop off donations of household items at the United Youth Center on Clio Road, just north of Carpenter. Baby supplies such as diapers and formula are hard to come by in the Rockaway area, as are many other items.
"I know they need blankets and warm clothing, they need flashlights and batteries, they need industrial sized trash bags. You know, everything you use on a daily basis these people can use," said organizer Lesa Quade.
The first truckload is expected to leave Thursday, and more trucks will deliver goods as they are filled.
