(11/08/12) - Relatives of a man last seen in Mid-Michigan came to Saginaw County to get some answers.
Police continue to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Eric Franks, who was living in Mid-Michigan.
He moved from Ohio to Saginaw County in 2010, but no one has seen him since the spring of last year.
Thursday, his mother and two of her sisters are knocking on doors and putting up flyers - hoping to find someone who knows what happened to the 40-year-old man.
Eric Franks came to Buena Vista Township to visit a daughter he never knew he had. That meeting took place, but months later, Franks vanished.
Jo Ann Franks says it was Oct. 25, 2012, that her son, Eric, left Ohio and headed to Michigan to see a former girlfriend who he found on Facebook. She was living in a Buena Vista Township home. Franks said the former girlfriend, who was married to another man, told Eric he was the father of her teenaged daughter.
"He mainly came to see that daughter, he fell in love with her, the fact that he had a child, he never had a child," Jo Ann said.
She says Franks stayed at the Miller Motel in Bridgeport Township. The motel manager told her he last saw Eric in March of 2011.
"He paid a weeks rent, he stayed two nights, and then for three nights he didn't see him," Jo Ann said.
She says the former girlfriend last saw him outside her home and that he was heading to California. Franks says she got an email a year ago, supposedly from Eric, asking her to call him, but she says the number wasn't working. She replied by e-mail.
"I will not have the police quit looking for you until I hear your voice," Jo Ann said.
Now - a year after that last email - Jo Ann and her sisters Debra from North Carolina and Faye from Mississippi, went to the motel where Franks last stayed, and to the home he was last seen. Police are also looking for his car, a 2001 tan Chevy Malibu with Ohio registration.
"There is very little hope," said Debra Turbeville. She says Eric's former girlfriend and her husband have been questioned by police, but have since moved to Florida.
"My son came up here, he disappeared up here, his car disappeared up here, the answers are up here," Jo Ann said.
Buena Vista Police are handing the investigation now, but the Michigan State Police may join the case as well.
