(11/09/12) - A Central Michigan University professor was suspended and banned from campus, after inappropriate material was found on his computer at work.
The school took William L. Merrill off the job on Monday. The Isabella County man is now charged with being in possession of child pornography.
Campus leaders are not really saying much more about the situation - only that this is something they are looking into.
The school made the announcement about William Merrill on Thursday. He works in the College of Education and Human Services.
We're told an employee found the material on his computer.
University leaders released a statement saying they have strict policies about this type of behavior.
Students said they were shocked to learn about it from a campus-wide email.
CMU Campus police and the Isabella County Prosecutors Office are handling the case.
The campus police chief was not available for comment. The prosecutors office has not released any information.
