
(11/12/12) - The police and fire budget remain a hot topic for many cities.
The Bay City commission plans to hear more on the proposed plan to combine the
two at a meeting Monday night.
The city has been looking at a public safety plan for the past three years.
Back in August, city leaders told us that they need to think long and hard about
the consolidation between the police and fire departments.
Bay City is facing a nearly $2 million budget deficit.
Bay City Mayor Chris Shannon vetoed a vote by commissioners to put a proposed
millage on the November ballot that would have helped pay for police and fire
consolidation for five years.
Layoff's are possible in the future.
