(11/14/12) - A Flint city council member announced he's stepping down Wednesday afternoon.
Delrico Loyd was appointed to represent the city's First Ward in 2008. He says recent family challenges have made him re-think his seat in local government.
Within the last year, his brother was murdered, as well as five of his cousins.
Loyd was also just appointed an associate pastor with North Star Missionary Baptist Church.
He says he needs time to grieve and focus on his family's future.
Loyd's term ends in November of next year. Flint City Council will appoint a replacement until the end of his term.
