Women charged, accused of stealing from homes while with 6-month-old baby

SAGINAW (WJRT) -

(11/16/12) - They are accused of breaking into Saginaw County homes - while they had a 6-month old baby in the car.

Friday afternoon, they were in court to face charges.

Twenty-year-old Daketa Crowley and 18-year-old Breanna Tucker were charged with three counts of home invasion.

They were also charged with burglary and conducting a criminal enterprise.

When district court judge Christopher Boyd asked the two if they had anything to say, Breanna Tucker said she learned her lesson and it will never happen again.

Daketa Crowley didn't comment.

The two are accused of stealing nearly $50,000 worth of electronics and jewelry from at least three homes in Lakefield Township Wednesday.

Neighbors called the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office when they saw a suburban that they didn't recognize driving through their rural community.

The women would knock on doors where they believed no one was home. They would go around to the back and steal the property.

They did all of this with Crowley's 6-month-old baby in the car.

Sheriff Bill Federspiel says there's some good news for homeowners who had their valuables taken.

"It hasn't been all returned at this point, but it will be. We wanted to be sure to hang on to the property through this arraignment process. We've identified the victims and whose property belongs to each victim. We will get it back to them and I want it back in their hands before Christmas," Federspiel said.

This isn't the young ladies' first encounter with the law. No specific information was given about their prior record.

Bond has been set at $10,000 for each count. A preliminary examination is set for later this week. The baby is now in the care of Child Protective Services.
