Applebee's planned for Grand Blanc Township

Posted: Updated:

(11/16/12) - A popular neighborhood eatery plans to open in Grand Blanc Township. Applebee's restaurant is expected to break ground some time next year on a piece of land off Holly Road and Industrial Park.

"We are very excited to have them here and have as many restaurants here and have this be a central place for after the movie," said Township Supervisor Mikki Hoffman.

Not from the plot of land, the Trillium Circle development went stagnant after the economy took a turn for the worse. Other businesses in the area like Security Credit Union hope the neighborhood eatery can help revive this prime location.

"We're not seeing the traffic that we thought we would see when we original built that, so this development is a real good sign for us," said Security Credit Union President and CEO Christopher Estes.

Brooke Cruthers works across the street at Salon 8. They've been open since June. "That's going to be really cool. We will have more places to go to lunch around here. Right now we only have Buffalo Wild Wings and Big Apple Bagels."

Hoffman adds her team is working hard to find more tenants and is confident a big name like Applebee's will boost the chances for another restaurant in the area.

"There's more room here for one more business. Either this expands or it goes to Trillium, but we are going to try and keep people coming here," Hoffman said.
