(11/18/12) - The big number today is 36. That's how many shopping days are left until Christmas, and already businesses are rolling out the bargains.
"We just wanted to come up and do some shopping, maybe the Christmas spirit is already kicking in, we're just having a great time," said Steve Myers while shopping at the Premium Outlets in Birch Run.
"Deer Widows" weekend sales are just wrapping up, but this isn't the end of the early shopping season.
The Birch Run Premium Outlets are getting a jump start on Black Friday shopping; some stores are opening at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
"We're really optimistic about what we'll see this weekend, again the energy, the camaraderie and the memories that are made when we see families out here waiting to get in the door," said Lindsay Carpenter, assistant general manager of the Birch Run Premium Outlets.
All stores will be open by midnight, and they'll be open all night long for their annual Midnight Madness sale.
Some stores will have door prizes and special deals, and for most shoppers, this marks the start of the holiday shopping season.
"They are absolutely our biggest events of the year," Carpenter said. "We definitely focus on, and I think a lot of our shoppers do, on these two weekends that fall in November just because of the value the extra jump on holiday shopping and find the great deals."
