(11/20/12) - You might say it's the calm before the storm at Toys "R" Us in Flint Township.
"You know what, look around me. I've got toys coming out of every crack in this building. Yeah, we're ready," said Tracy Ireland, Toys "R" Us store manager.
With doors opening at 8 Thursday night, Ireland believes the Linden Road store could see its busiest Black Friday in years.
"We're expecting to see some people as early as Wednesday afternoon, camped out. The line will go right around the building. Usually, it takes an hour or two to get everyone in the building," he said.
Once shoppers make it inside, there are a handful of new electronics that are expected to disappear rather quickly.
"For the little kids, we have the Tabeo. This is a child's version of the tablet. It's our exclusive, and it's one of the hottest toys out there. Right below it is the brand new Wii U. It just came out Sunday morning," Ireland said.
And forget about Barbie dolls. While they tend to sell fast, right now, it's all about the boy bands.
"One Direction. One of the hottest bands out there right now for the teen sect. It's Liam, Zane, Neil, Harry, and Louis, and they all need haircuts," Ireland said.
They have something vicious, too.
"It's the Illumivor. A mecha shark that lights up. It's remote control, so while you're having breakfast Christmas morning, you can have that nipping at your heels," Ireland said.
Also in demand this season, something old that's new again.
"We have the original Big Wheel. You remember that. It's back. And below that is the future, the Y Flicker F1. This is a three-wheeler that you use your full body motion to get it to move. Next to that is the Gelarti designer art studio. The kids can combine the ability to draw with stickers," Ireland said.
