(11/20/12) - The salute to automotive pioneers in Flint will continue to grow.
Flint businessman Dale McClelland and his wife Mary announced Tuesday they are donating enough money to pay for the installation of a third statue downtown.
This one will be a likeness of Billy Durant, the founder of General Motors.
McClelland says Durant did a lot to put Flint on the map.
"We as a family have been looking for a number of years for something meaningful that we could contribute to the City of Flint and recognize the pioneering spirit that sometimes goes unrecognized with the city," he said.
The Durant statue will be made by Joe Rundell, who is responsible for the Louis Chevrolet statue in the plaza.
Rundell's statue of David Buick should be ready in a few days.
