(11/21/12) - Art Ginsburg, better known as Mr. Food, has passed away.
He was 81. Ginsburg had been battling pancreatic cancer for about a year.
Mr. Food has been a staple on television stations around the country and right here on ABC12 for decades.
Our Karen Gatlin interviewed him in March last year when he was in town for the ABC12 Family Expo. He even talked about how he came up with his famous tag line - "Ooh, it's so good!"
"After using it three times, (I) walked out of the studio and the cameraman said, 'There goes ooh it's so good!' Well, the next day it was copyrighted."
Andy Yuroff, owner of Thompson Creek Turkey Farm in Mundy Township, says he stopped by his business.
"Somebody came by the office and said, 'Mr. Food's out there,'" Yuroff says.
He left quite an impression and also an autographed picture.
"He was really sincere about saying, 'Ooh it's so good,'" says Yuroff.
"Man, he was the whip! I liked him," says Jacqueline Perez.
Perez, working at the Wolcott Orchards' booth at the Flint Farmers' Market, says she watched his segment every day.
"He had great recipes, was a good guy and always gave you what you needed from the bottom of the recipe to the top," Perez says.
"I really enjoyed him. A great loss."
