(11/26/12) - A Mid-Michigan community could be the future home of a new shopping center or even a senior community.
Mundy Township leaders are discussing options for a vacant 90 acre plot of land along Hill Road, behind Home Depot.
"Retail, office space, a number of things. There's a civic center proposed for the Hill Road property. Walking paths, recreation is also another thing discussed in previous meetings," said Mundy Township supervisor David Guigear.
Mundy Township leaders are discussing various proposals for the sight between Fenton and Torrey Roads.
They've held several meetings, and Tuesday night they're taking input from the public on what they'd like to see there.
"We want to get input from everybody we can. The Hill Road corridor is kind of important to us. We think it's a jewel that can flourish. We want to put things to compliment what is already there," Guigear said.
The hope is to have mostly private funds and some public funding.
Guigear says there has been strong interest from area business leaders.
"At the end of the year next year, we hope to be able to improve the Hill Road corridor authority, should the public approve the concept," he said.
The public is invited to share their thoughts Tuesday beginning at 7.
