(11/25/12) -- It's the time of year where many who are homeless are forced to seek shelter. While many of those shelters are already filled to capacity, there are good, positive things taking place behind those shelter walls.
Twenty--six-year-old Victoria Brown is a woman trying to beat the odds. She's brought to tears when she talks about where she is today and how far she's come. Addicted to drugs and alcohol and homeless it wasn't until she lost custody of her 5-year-old little girl, Symphony, that she hit rock bottom."Being without my daughter it was a wake up call to get it together."
Victoria says it was her little girl that gave her the motivation to get clean. She regained custody of her daughter, and now the two of them live here at the Shelter of Flint. After being at the shelter for only a week, Victoria used the Shelter resources and could be in her own apartment before Christmas.
If you'd like to make the holidays a little easier for people like Victoria who are staying at the Shelter there is still a need for doners to adopt families for Christmas.
