
(11/28/12) - A former Michigan State Police trooper charged in connection with in a car crash that injured a state trooper won't face a felony weapons charge.
Patrick Sharkey still faces misdemeanor charges relating to the crash that happened in May on I-75 in Kochville Township.
Police say Sharkey's SUV hit a state police car.
A state trooper was injured. She had pulled over to assist a truck-driver with a flat tire.
A gun was found in Sharkey's car, but Saginaw County District Court Judge Christopher Boyd has ruled that a gun found in Sharkey's SUV was improperly seized after the crash.
Prosecutors can appeal the ruling to Circuit Court.
