MIDLAND COUNTY (WJRT) -

(11/29/12) - Police now confirm the woman's body found yesterday in Midland County is missing Saginaw woman Leigh Swanson.

The 45-year-old was reported missing this month. Police say she died of a gunshot wound to the head.

The man police believe may have been connected to her disappearance killed himself.

Although police have identified the woman as Leigh Swanson, there is still very little information being given about the man who killed himself.

"Leigh Kathryn Swanson. She has been identified as being the person that was missing from Saginaw Township," said Midland County Sheriff Jerry Nielson.

Leigh Swanson was last seen by her mother on Nov.16. Nielsen says Swanson was going on a date with someone she met online. That site is believed to be meetme.com.

"We do have her computer. We're going to have forensics going through her computers from Leigh as well as the suspect. We've got two computers from that individual's homes, so those, we will be going through to see if we can figure out exactly where it is they met and how they met and how many times they've been in contact with each other," Nielsen added.

Leigh told her mother she would be home around 3. Her mother hasn't heard from her since.

The Midland County Sheriff's office got a tip that Leigh was at a home in Sanford. When police got to the house, they heard a gunshot. A man came out of the home saying his son shot himself.

Police found him dead when they went inside.

During their investigation, they also found Swanson's body in a wooded area. It's not far from the home.

"She died from a gunshot wound to the head," Nielsen replied.

The name of the man who killed himself is not being released at this time.

Nielsen says the man was 28 years old. He lived in the house with his father and he's from Detroit. He was divorced and had children.

Nielsen is still trying to gather as much information about this case possible.

"We've got a pretty good grasp of what's going on. We've got pieces of this puzzle that we are not able to fill," he said.

If you have any information about this case, contact the Midland County Sheriff's Department.
