(12/06/12) - Thousands of dollars were handed out Thursday at the Pavilion on the campus of UM-Flint.
The Bikes on the Bricks committee presented four checks to local non-profit organizations - totaling $10,000.
Old Newsboys, The Young Marines, Friends of Flint Police and McLaren Hospice were awarded checks from $500-5,000 - thanks to last summer's 3-day mega event held in downtown Flint.
The sixth annual event was held in September and has become very popular with biking enthusiasts.
"It's very important for us to give back to the community in such a way 'cause we are happy to be established here in Flint and we feel that it is very important to pay forward and give back," said Paulla Schemm, of Bikes on the Bricks.
Plans are already in the works for next summer's event.
