(12/20/12) - There is good news for some of Mid-Michigan's sugar beet farmers.
They grew a record crop this past summer, and our state's Congressional leaders are taking note.
U.S. Representative Candice Miller congratulated the grower-owners of Michigan Sugar Company, saying nearly 5 million tons of sugar beets were harvested this year.
The record crop comes despite spring frost and an abnormally dry summer.
