(12/21/12) - Because there was no school Friday, many kids did not have a chance to have holiday parties.
But thanks to an idea by some parents, some Genesee County kids didn't miss the fun.
Some Linden parents had the idea to hold a party Friday at the VFW post 4642.
Teachers and parents alike brought food and crafts, and local businesses got involved as well.
"We started talking about noon yesterday and it started as a play date between our kids. And it grew and grew and by two o'clock she had it on Facebook and by midnight I think we had 50, 60 RSVPs and it just went from there," said Linden parent Tabitha Bucknam.
Sparky the fire dog greeted kids at the door with candy canes, and no Grinches were anywhere to be found.
