(01/25/13) - The golf course at a former Saginaw country club will be taken over the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The Germania Town and Country Club closed its doors at the end of 2010. Last year, the buildings on the property were purchased by Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority.

Now, the Nature Conservancy has purchased the golf course, and the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge will manage the 135 acres of land.

A news release says the land would be converted into a "diversity of native grasses and wildflowers, and be maintained in an open meadow or prairie condition."
