As winter weather moves in, road crews start heading out

FLINT (WJRT) -

(01/27/13) - As the rough weather rolls in, road crews are getting ready for an extra busy night.

And drivers should be prepared for some dicey driving.

Driving instructors will tell you that the worst thing you can do on slippery roads is drive too fast for the conditions. You don't know you're in trouble until you break and it's too late.

But tires are something else to consider. Mechanics say bad tires mean no traction, and traction means everything when the roads get dicey.

But road crews are planning on getting out early Sunday night to try and get the roads clear by morning.

We spoke with the Saginaw County Road Commission, their night shift will be coming in early Sunday.

They plan to hit the roads around 4 or 5 a.m. to get a head start on the slippery roads.
