Congressman Dan Kildee discusses equal pay for women - ABC 12 – WJRT – Flint, MI

(01/29/13) - Congressman Dan Kildee stopped in Flint Tuesday to discuss equal pay for women.

Kildee held a roundtable discussion with women who have been impacted by unequal wages.

He says women in Mid-Michigan earn on average 74 cents for every dollar earned by men.

He says women make up nearly half of the workforce and that's unacceptable.

"I can not sit on the floor of the Congress and continue to let this kind of unfairness continue without doing something about it," he said.

Last week, Kildee co-sponsored the Paycheck Fairness Act. Their goal is to close the wage gap between men and women.
