(01/29/13) - The man accused of nearly killing a Flint toddler, last fall, will stand trial.
The little boy is Jordin Parkes and his mother has also been ordered to stand trial.
Aleesha Wyatt is charged with one count of first degree child abuse. Her boyfriend, Robert Martin III, faces the same charge and now another one as well - one count of assault with intent to murder.
Testimony continued and also ended Tuesday during their preliminary exams in district court.
One of the witnesses who testified was the Hurley Medical Center doctor who cared for Jordin in the pediatric emergency room last November.
He says the little boy had too many bruises to count.
Police and prosecutors say Martin caused the abused landing Jordin in the hospital that day, that he beat him for wetting himself, but they believe Wyatt participated at times too.
That doctor did not think Jordin would survive.
"The child was in extreme distress, fighting for his life and making minimum movements," say Dr. Faisal Mawri. "I gave him a very poor prognosis when I first initially saw him. Overall, it was a very sad case because of the injuries he has sustained."
Jordin is out of the hospital now and last we knew, in specialized medical foster care.
