(01/29/13) - In just a matter of weeks, a major retailer is opening its doors in Saginaw County. Cabela's Outpost is opening soon, and it's only the second one to open in the state.
The original Michigan Cabela's is in Dundee.
"I'm just so excited to have the brand name here, it's amazing," said Laura Bates, with Cabela's in Saginaw.
Cabela's opens in Kochville Township on Valentine's Day morning. A third store will open in Grandville this March.
"We're very excited, we're so happy they picked Saginaw for the Cabela's store, there's a lot of great things happening in the area with a lot of new businesses coming in and we're happy to be part of it," said Nicole Royer, with Cabela's in Saginaw.
Millions of shoppers head to the original Dundee store every year, and it's become a tourist attraction for the area.
The dundee store says they aren't worried about fewer visitors now that there are more Cabela's options, and shoppers in Mid-Michigan are excited to have a Cabela's store of their own.
"It's great to have a Cabela's name up toward more northern Michigan so all of the people who are up north can come to this Cabela's," Bates said.
