(01/30/13) - Some people in Mid-Michigan are still dealing with flooding.
A few days ago, residents on Mintola Ave. in Flint Township, had snow in their yards. Within a matter of hours, it melted, and is now several inches of standing water.
"Lots of water in the ditches, where there is a ditch" said Sherry Thompson.
As the temperatures changed, snow melted and heavy rain followed. Many residents were on edge, as flooding has been a problem in the past.
"This happens frequently when we have lots of rain," Thompson said. "It usually happens at least twice a year, but last spring was particularly bad."
"It never usually happens this time of year," said Jim Estes.
Flooding last May left several homes with flooded basements. We spoke with one homeowner who was dealing with the same issue Wednesday. His neighbors, however, are in the clear.
"For us right now, there are no issues, but we keep watching the sump pump," Thompson said.
"All my stuff is safe, it's up on bocks and stuff, all pretty safe down there," Estes said.
The residents tell us, in the past, the water has stayed for several days. Now they're just worried about freezing temperatures that are expected later on.
