Local family offering reward for missing therapy dog

GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) -

(01/31/13) - A local family is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who can help find their therapy dog, who works with local elementary students.

Brody is a 2-year-old Bernese Mountain dog.

He was last seen Monday night in Flushing Township, and since then, countless volunteers have been searching at all hours, looking for him.

Brody helps autistic students at Central Elementary School in Flushing and sits in on reading sessions at Seymour Elementary, so students are missing him, too.

Brody's owner remembers one special time he worked his magic.

"Couldn't get the words out, was struggling, and Brody just reached over and put his paw right on his lap. And you know, to me, that was his, 'It's OK, take a breath and we'll get through this,'" said Brody's owner Charissa Hope.

Hope tells ABC12 the dogs tracks go into a street, but then stopped, so the family fears someone picked him up.

Anyone with information on the dog's whereabouts has been asked to call Hope at 810-922-0106. She also want people to know he is allergic to regular dog food.
