(02/01/13) - A week-long effort 'reached its peak' Friday afternoon at a Mid-Michigan school.
Students at Brendel Elementary in Grand Blanc have been collecting rolls of toilet paper for Catholic Charities.
Friday, the second annual 'Spare A Square' drive wrapped up with an assembly in the school gym.
After the kids saw the paper pyramid, it was time to take it down.
"People need toilet paper, and it's so much fun to see them all come into school with their toilet paper. They get off their bus with their big rolls of toilet paper and bring it into the classroom, and the kindergarteners count it, we chart it, then we make a big pyramid on the stage," said kindergartner teacher Jennifer Lahaie.
Brendel students collected about 4,700 rolls this week. That's about 2,000 more than they brought in last year.
