Only on ABC12: the 911 call a CMU student made after escaping her attacker

MT. PLEASANT (WJRT) -

(02/06/13) - A CMU senior called 911 after being abducted from campus on Jan. 16.

She escaped to a nearby home where two kids let her inside, but the terror wasn't over yet.

"I'm inside, I was kidnapped," she said to the 911 dispatcher.

At a busy parking lot on a bustling campus, she was walking when a strange man stole her car, abducted and then raped her.

"You need to send an ambulance, I jumped out of a car and I think my arm is broken," she told the dispatcher.

After leaping from the vehicle, she ran to the nearest home where she found two children, home alone.

James and Acelin Persyn are only 14 and 11 years old. They saw the woman wrapped in tape, banging on their door, yelling for help and let her inside. The kidnapper was right on her heels.

"The man is outside, you need to hurry, please," she said.

They all hid in the bathroom while the kidnapper tried to light the home on fire.

The dispatcher asked, "Does he have any weapons?" The student replied, "He has a gun."

Eventually, the kids' father and the police arrived.

By then, the kidnapper was gone. He drove 100 miles north and rammed into three police vehicles before an officer shot and killed him. There's no telling what would've happened if James and Acelin didn't open that door.

The woman is from West Michigan and she is safe. James and Acelin are being called heroes now. They received Life Saving Awards Tuesday night from the Isabella county sheriff for saving that woman's life.
