(02/08/13) - Across the country, airlines have already canceled more than 3,400 flights Friday and Saturday as they react to the big storm approaching the Northeast.
Weather conditions and concerns over connections also led to cancellations at MBS and Bishop airports Friday morning.
At Bishop, Cassandra and Katelynn Thompson didn't know what was happening - or where their mother would end up.
"She was flying in from Atlanta and then her flight actually landed in Detroit because they didn't want to land here because of the weather. Now we're waiting to see if they can fly her back here," Cassandra said. "She's pretty stressed out because she was actually supposed to be flying in last night, then all the airports got closed."
Becky Natchez from Grand Blanc knows the feeling.
"They canceled the 6 o'clock flight I was originally on yesterday and I got here today and they said my flight that I would have been leaving on is delayed getting in because they can't land and I'll miss my connection in Atlanta," she said.
Natchez is flying to Florida. "Getting away from all this," she said.
Or at least she'll try to again Saturday morning. Right now, she just needs a ride home.
"My husband dropped me off so I have to call him to come get me," she said.
Amy Donnellan drove all the way from East Lansing with her two kids who didn't have school Friday.
She, like the Thompson sisters, is trying to pick up a passenger.
"When we checked on the phone, it said it had arrived and then we got here and now it says delayed," she said. "We killed a lot of time in the airport because of weather, over Christmas, so we're getting good at it. We'll have a snack, walk around, hang out, people watch. I just hope she gets here soon."
We saw Amy right before we left Bishop and she gave us the thumbs up.
