Local leaders honored during the Black History Month Brunch

(02/16/13) - There were sweet sounds coming from the Genesee District Library for the Black History Month Brunch on Saturday.

That's where local leaders were honored inside Genesys conference and Banquet Center.

This year's honorees are Reta Stanley from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint, Tendaji Ganges from the U-M Flint, Dr. Raymond Gist, and gold medalist Claressa Shields.

The Food Bank of eastern Michigan was also honored.

Executive Director of the Genesee District Library Carolyn Nash, was excited for this years honorees.  

"We like to focus on leaders of our community people who make quality contributions to the community and people who have set example for us and our children," Nash said.

ABC12's Matt Franklin was the MC for the event.

This was the twelfth year for the event.
