FLINT (WJRT) -

(02/25/13) - Activists with Al Sharpton's National Action Network planned to protest at Hurley Medical Center on Monday, but instead, Rev. Charles Williams II and others met with Hurley's CEO and some board members inside the hospital.

They say they were pleased with the conversation they had and they feel like Hurley is doing what it can to make things right again after two racial discrimination lawsuits were recently filed.

Hurley's CEO announced Friday night that one of the lawsuits has been resolved.

Two black nurses claim they were prevented from caring for a white baby at the father's request. Both nurses say a note was posted on an assignment clipboard, backing the request and decision to honor it.

Tonya Battle was the first nurse to sue, and to settle.

The attorney for the second nurse suing says the case is still very active and he is actively pursuing deposing Gavulic.
