A look back on the winter season so far

MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) -

(02/25/13) - As February comes to a close, Mid-Michigan is preparing for another bout of winter weather.

While our weather team tracks the snow headed our way, ABC 12's Autumn Perry takes a look back at the season so far.

Dec. 20 was the official start of the season. For weeks following, it appeared that Michigan was headed for another mild winter.

Companies that count on snow for their bottom line waited in vain for a good solid snow storm.

And some events, like the Caro Winter Fest, were canceled.

Then on Jan. 21, let's call it one month late, Old Man Winter came howling back to Mid-Michigan and it seems the cold and snow haven't let up since

"Driving through the snow and the rain and the ice, it's just been terrible," said Michelle Dutcher.

Late January and early February featured wind chill readings as low as -10. Those conditions took a toll on Mid-Michigan wallets.

Now as we eye another round of heavy snow targeting our state, most, but not all, Mid-Michigan residents are hanging on for spring.

"I wish winter was gone cause I hate winter, I want summer and spring to get here," Dutcher said.

"I feel it's been pretty mild. I don't care for cold so much, but I love the snow so I'm all for another snow," said Bonnie Mattar.

"I'm over it, I want to see summer, the sun. I can't wait for 60s, 70s," said Greg Humphrey.
