(02/26/13) - First they won an online battle of the bands, and now, a group of friends in Flint are finalists in the Hard Rock Cafe's Hard Rock Rising Contest.
"This is big for us. This is going to maybe put us on the map and put us maybe somewhere a little bigger than Flint," said Em Burns, of AllDay MonDay.
AllDay MonDay has earned the right to perform at the Hard Rock Detroit on March 21. It's a chance to compete for a spot on a 10 city world tour, including stops in Tokyo and London.
"It's something that I've always dreamed about. It's just kind of surreal to see it all kind of coming to life and unfolding," said Michelle McAuley, of AllDay MonDay.
"We never expected this for one second. When we first joined the band, I was like, this will be fun. I like to play," said Bo Smi, of AllDay MonDay.
Since making the top 10, the band's social media accounts have been exploding. They've even heard from executives in New York about a possible record deal.
"She just said that she was really into us and that we're marketable. She thought our songs sounded like hits. We really only have two of them out there in a video, so for her to have just that little tease of us was pretty impressive," Burns said.
AllDay MonDay has been together for just over a year, and they're proud to be the only all-girl band left in the Detroit end of the competition.
"Oh, we're a lot of fun. We goof around, but we take things very seriously. We like to just go out and entertain the crowd," McAuley said.
If AllDay MonDay wins this Hard Rock contest, not only will their musical dreams potentially come true, it could also lead to another dream - walking into their bosses' offices and saying, 'Take this job and shove it!"
"I'm a contractor, and I'm 35. To be able to not have to be dirty everyday, amazing! I would love that," Burns said.
