Two Men and a Truck expansion could mean more jobs for Michigan

LANSING (WJRT) -

(02/27/13) - A major business expansion could mean more jobs are coming to Michigan.

Two Men and a Truck has announced plans to bring 125 jobs to the Lansing area over the next five years - and even more down the road.

Those jobs in Lansing are mostly office positions, but the CEO of the company says they'll lead to the creation of 7,000 jobs nationally over the next five years.

The Michigan-based company is expanding its international headquarters near the Capital City.

Gov. Rick Snyder says the company is helping bring growth to the state, in the form of full time jobs averaging around $46,000 a year.

The expansion project will pump at least $4 million into the Michigan economy over the next 18 months, according to the CEO.

"25,000 square feet of office space this summer. With an expanded corporate office, we will be able to support more locations and staff around the world," said Brig Sorber, Two Men and a Truck CEO.

"Now what's our role in all this? It's about economic gardening. Quite often people spend their time saying we're hunting for out of state companies, we're trying to bring them in here and we're doing a fair amount of that, but the fundamental comeback here in Michigan is by having successful companies right here in Michigan where we grow and flourish," said Gov. Rick Snyder.

Two Men And A Truck currently has about 4,000 employees.
