Accounting problems delay Burton audit

Posted: Updated:
BURTON (WJRT) -

(02/27/13) - Time is running out for Burton City leaders to turn in their audit to the state.

By law, the city has to turn in an audit to receive revenue sharing dollars from the state.

The city has already missed the first deadline.

"We missed the deadline on the audit because we had some cash reconciliation on a portion of our general fund that did not tie out to certain ledger entries," said Mayor Paula Zelenko.

Zelenko says Burton was granted an April 1 extension to get in the audit.

She says it should be ready, preventing any lose of revenue from the state.
