FRANKENLUST TOWNSHIP (WJRT) -

(03/04/13) - Gov. Rick Snyder wants to hear from you about the future of the state's energy sources. A team of energy regulators is traveling Michigan to make presentations and collect public comments. Monday, the team stopped at Delta College.

The data collected will help the governor and state legislatures put together an energy policy by the end of this year.

The forum at Delta College featured utility representatives and speakers from several state energy efficiency programs. It is the third of seven public meetings taking place around the state. It's all a part of Gov. Snyder's 1-year action plan created after voters rejected a ballot proposal that would have amended the state's constitution and required Michigan utilities to obtain at least 25 percent of their annual electric retail sales from clean renewable sources by 2025.

Current law requires 10 percent renewable energy by 2015 and energy officials say the state is on track to meet that goal.

The public meeting was met with opposition. Silent protestors expressed their concern before the forum.

All the feedback, good and bad, will help state leaders decide what is best for Michigan's energy future.

Gov. Snyder's administration also launched a website to gather public input to visit that website click here.
