HURON COUNTY (WJRT) -

(03/06/13) - A 66-year old man who police say opened fire on state troopers in Sebewaing faces the possibility of life in prison.

George Barrett is now charged with four counts, including intent to murder.

Police say they shot Barrett last Tuesday after he started firing at them. It happened Tuesday night around 7:30 at a home on Young Street in Sebewaing.

Police were originally responding to a felonious assault call. The victim from that call ran to safety without being hurt as police were surrounding the area.

The man was taken to a hospital in Saginaw.

No officers were hurt. The trooper involved in the shooting was placed on administrative leave. That's part of the departments policy until an investigation is complete.
