Jail dodgers may soon be out of luck

Posted: Updated:
FLINT (WJRT) -

(03/06/13) - The days of dodging jail in Genesee County may be over.

Now, all police departments in Genesee County will have access to Flint's lock-up.

That's because the Genesee County Commissioners approved contract changes Wednesday for the city's lockup.

Police from Fenton to Flushing will be able to make an arrest, head to downtown Flint and put a person in the lock up for 72 hours.

Before, the lockup was only used by law enforcement agencies working in the city of Flint.

The city's lockup is run by the county sheriff and paid for by the state.
