(03/08/13) - Strong words Friday from the Genesee Intermediate School District over a decision about allegations of misuse of district funds.
Thursday, Lapeer County prosecutor Byron Konschuh decided to not pursue criminal charges in the case of a former Genesee Intermediate School District employee accused of misusing funds.
Friday morning, GISD Superintendent Lisa Hagel issued a statement saying, "As an educator, taxpayer, and parent, I would like to express my concern and displeasure over the failure to find criminal fault in a case riddled with abuse of school time, property, and financial resources. While the prosecutor may not have felt this could have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt, that doesn't excuse the behavior of these two people."
An audit showed Beverly Knox-Pipes used thousands of dollars to cover up an affair with former superintendent, Tom Svitkovich, and to pay for personal expenses.
