(03/08/13) - In Grand Blanc Friday afternoon, well-deserved honors for those who "took the plunge".
Several staff members and friends at Myers Elementary braved the chilly waters of Lake Fenton last month to help Special Olympics.
They made a financial splash, too. The group raised more than $3,000 in pledges.
"We've never had any school raise that much money for Special Olympics. So we came today to tell them a thank you and to present them with the Golden Plunger award that we're hoping will now be a competition between our buildings in Grand Blanc to see who can raise the most money for Special Olympics." said Joan Robertson, Brendel Elementary teacher.
Those jumpers were awarded the "Golden Plunger" in honor of their efforts Friday at Myers Elementary.
Grand Blanc special education students took part in the ceremony.
