Local College Republicans attend CPAC

Posted: Updated:
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. (WJRT) -

(03/14/13) - Republicans from around the nation, and from here in Mid-Michigan, are meeting just outside Washington, D.C. to shape the future of the GOP.

They're rallying with key players in the party at the Conservative Political Action Conference - better known as CPAC.

It's been a busy first day of CPAC - some of Thursday's big speakers included Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who delivered that 13-hour filibuster on the Senate floor last week.

One of the most anticipated speeches is set for Friday. That's when former presidential candidate and Michigan native Mitt Romney will make his first public appearance since Election Night.

ABC12's Washington correspondent Ted Fioraliso caught up with two College Republicans attending the event -- Matt Joyner of Grand Blanc who attends MSU and Cameron Lail of Frankenmuth who attends U of M Flint.

CPAC continues through Saturday.
