(03/18/13) - The 'help wanted' sign is still out for a growing Mid-Michigan company.
It was a few months ago we told you that Morley Companies in Saginaw Township were hiring 250 new workers. Most of those positions are filled, but the call is going out for another 50 employees.
In all, Morley Companies still has about 75 positions to be filled, and being fluent in Spanish or French would be a help to someone looking for a job.
Coral Aguilar has been working at Morley Companies for about a year. But she remembers those nervous days before she got the call from Morley.
"I was out of work for three months, so yeah, scary, single mom," she said. "Constantly sending my resume out, calling and following up with people, calling companies that didn't even have any positions posted just to see if they had anything up."
Aguilar is now a team leader for Morley, where she oversees a group of new associates who have recently been hired for a roadside assistance program. Last month, Morley announced it was hiring 250 people for the program. Now, they are hiring more people.
"Our client is so happy with the work our agents are doing, they want us to hire 50 new associates for the same program," said Jill Gushow, of Morley Companies.
The call is going out for people who are fluent in two specific languages.
"Right now, we have a need for Spanish bi-lingual speakers and French bi-lingual speakers," Gushow said.
Aguilar believes her ability to speak Spanish helped her get the job with Morley.
"Espanol, si, so we, right away, we go right to the Spanish," she said.
Once Morley Companies are done hiring for this program, it will have more than 1,500 employees. It has received 1,600 resumes since the new jobs were announced in February.
A year ago, Aguilar sent her resume, and the mother of two children has already been promoted.
"I am certainly blessed," she said.
