(03/18/13) - Family and friends gave an emotional sendoff to their loved ones
headed to Afghanistan.
Monday, 150 members of the 144th military police company left the Shiawassee
County readiness center in Corunna.
The officers will first go to Mississippi and then onto Afghanistan, where
they're expected to be for about a year.
"I'm proud of my son because he's serving his country, to help protect us,
things like that, but at the same time, I'm also, so, I don't want him to go,"
said Debby Turner, mother. "Yesterday was harder, yesterday was the day that we
did a lot of the crying, and things like that, and really got a lot of hugs and
kisses and everything. But today is like, 'OK, this is really happening and
nothing I can do about it.' But I do support him, I support all of our
military."
