(04/04/13) - It is set-up day at Perani Arena for the annual Spring Home and Garden Show.
This year, there are high expectations for the event that's been in the community for more than seven decades.
"It's been a main stay in the community for a long, long time. A lot of our local builders, landscapers, home improvement companies depend on this show year after year to get the season going," said Jeremy Torrey, Perani Arena general manager.
Many of them are returning this year with a renewed sense of optimism after a slow couple of years. Some of the builders tell us there are promising signs their industry is starting to regain some strength.
"There's a lot of things going on, a lot of new homes, well not a lot, but a lot more than last year, that's for sure," said builder Todd Johnson.
Come Saturday morning, the show is expected to be packed with people. Organizers say attendance numbers could be much higher than in years past - indicating people are willing to spend some money on their homes.
"What we found in the industry is a lot of homeowners are remodeling, upgrading their existing houses," Torrey said.
The show will feature a lot of new products promoting energy efficiency and money saving.
It's open Saturday, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and again on Sunday beginning at 11a.m.
